I was delighted to attend the RSM Charity Golf Day supporting the European Disabled Golfers Association (EDGA) on Thursday, after the ISPS Handa Irish Open for Golfers with Disability this week. I was hosted brilliantly by Simon Rattigan (RSM) and had the pleasure of playing with David Quinn (EDGA golfer) and Kevin Keenan (Philip Lee Solicitors). The good weather took a turn for the worse overnight but it didn't dampen our spirits in the Texas Scramble event.
After lunch, there was an inspirational speech from Ian St John (PGA Professional & EDGA golfer) who ran through his journey after being paralysed in 2016 after a delayed diagnosis of a tumour on his spine. There was a very long road ahead where he wondered if he'd ever be able to swing a club again but he charted his story to the present day where he now uses ParaGolfer (sit-to-stand sports wheelchair) to enable him to play golf again.
Many thanks to Niall May, Managing Partner of RSM Ireland, for the invite and a superbly organised event.
